Liverpool Tate...

Hey everyone... On the 28 of September, as part of my fashion course, my peers and I visited Liverpool to go see the exhibition at the Tate... :D ... When we arrived we were told that we were not allowed to bring our cameras in which is a shame because I can not show you a visual for what I'm gonna discuss. The room that most appealed to me was the top room because as you entered there was a wall with headphones hanging on hooks. We were invited to put the headphones on and choose a channel. For each channel there was different music that would play into the headphones. I choose the funky disco music because it was fun. With the headphones on and disco playing in my eardrums I entered the room and viewed the art. This was a completely different concept to viewing art and I found this a lot more interesting than silent room full of people staring at art. People were bobbing their heads to the beat and a few of my peers plucked up the courage to dance on the lit up dance floor in the centre of the room. This exercise confirmed that music creates emotions.

Shopping Online!!!

I got this random conversation with my lil sis and she mention this website where they sell Asian Clothes or should I say style. The website is called yesstyle.com and there is already 50 on my wish list. All the clothes there look casual like clothes that can be sell here in UK but still the one on the site got a bit of a kick to the designs, you know what I mean? No? Then your a retard then :P. Lol. :} Anyway, the price also got a kick to it and when I said kick to it, I meant your money will go down the drain. The website also have mens wear, beauty product, shoes, etc. Anyway I'll put some picture of the clothes that I want to buy but can't and also the price.

NamuDDalgi Faux Suede Faux Fur Collar Jacket from Korea = £97.69

Ganzi Lace-Up Platform Ankle Boots from Korea = £52.55

Liucia Japan Gambo Shoulder Bag from Japan = £134.74

See what I mean about the price. Oh thats not all of it on my wish list, there is more product on my wish list. I'll buy it all if I won the lottery which mean I need a LOT of luck to win the lottery. But anyway, I hope this website helps you buy what you like from Asia. I know a few people likes Asian stuff so here is the website again, www.yesstyle.com. enjoy online shopping... :}

I'm Back.!! :}

I'm really sorry for not posting any new post. I been in a very stressful state and I was not in the right mind to right anything, in other world I experience something that really shaken me. I also got loads of college work to finish plus the Fashion Show that our college had been organized every year was coming up.
During my half term I was meant to continue to manifacture my t-shirt designs but an unforeseen accident happened and ruin the t-shirt that I was meant to do during the half term. This incident shaken me and it was been so long since I left petrified, for days or weeks I could not think clearly and I was stressing about the t-shirt because at that time I did not have enough money to afford a new t-shirt to put my designs on. The hand in day was also the day we go back to college. You think you life is hard and stressful, try solving a problem when your not in your right mind, talk about stress! Anyway, my tutor was really nice and give me time to do another one. I was also lucky to be able to get a t-shirt and do the batik technique (Batik is a process where you used a melted wax for doing a pattern onto the fabric. Reminder the melted wax go throught the fabric so ALWAYS put something inside or underneat the pattern design if you don't want any other fabric to get a wax on it. The image below is a sample that I got from the internet NOT my design.)
It took me 3 days do finish my t-shirt. Actually it was not finish at all. :( I was not able to put a plait stitch onto 2 feather stem (BTW that's one of my designs pattern :}). A plait stitch is like a braid or a heart shape stitch, usually used while doing some embroidery techniques. But I was able to hand it in on day I was assigned to hand my t-shirt in. I been wondering how I can always manage to hand in all my college work in on time even though I'm usually behind with my college work? Anyway it really does not matter I'm just happy I'm always on time with handing my college works in. :} Where was I? Oh right! after that I tried to do my college work, that is the week before the Fashion Show. The Fashion Show was on the 17th and 18th of June 2010. The week of the Fashion Show, everyone was busy with preparing for the event. I was not able to go to the first day we were meant to go to Winsford because I had to do something more important and I recieved permission from my tutor to stay and do what I need to do. The next day, I could not go because the bus did not turn up which really annoyed me since I woke up really early so I wont miss the bus. I could not take the train cause I don't have any money on me. The day of the Fashion Show I got a appointment at 10am and went to the main site of my college for that appointment. Then I went to art department hoping to get the rest of my trip money which was £15 so I could have some money for transport to get to Winsford but they could not release it cause apparently the money was specificly for the title trip on the form. That time I was thinking what is the point of the trip money when you can't get it and why does it have to be specific to the trip title, it is not like the trip our tutors do will always match that trip title. Luckily the head of our course stop by the main site aswell and saw me standing outside out the art department which I was getting paranoid and annoyed with the lads staring at me like I was a rare breed or like they have not seen an Asian before, seriously! Anyway, I got a lift to Winsford, her daugther was gonna be a model and she pick her up after her GCSE exam.
I was backstage during the show because I was helping the model that was assigned to used to change clothes. It kinda felt like I was playing with a barbie, you know when you buy new clothes for the barbie and you to change it one after the other. :] lol. Yes I'm weird, deal with it. :P Anyway, I could not watch the show, but we were meant to watch it the next day but I don't have any money on me that time so was not able to go. :'( Poor me BUT our tutor said it will be posted on blackboard next year. I think, I don't really remember what she said exactly, I am not that good at remembering, lol. BTW, did I mention how tired I was after that show, No? oh let me tell you then, it was so busy and hot backstage and quite stressful, it was insane backstage and after the show I could not even stand outside while I wait for my mum to pick me up and when I got home I was asleep once I lay on my bed.
Then this week I tried to finish my sketchbook which if I remember correctly I did all of the tasks. Yea, I think I done all of it and the samples and annotation of each research and experiments. I was quite surprise to learned that I was actually behind with my sketchbook and I was not rushing at all. I was chilled while doing the rest of my samples but I was still stress with stuff like getting a house. Yes, I am moving out of my parents house to a flat/apartment/house which ever near my college cause I can't afford the bus fair and I no way og getting to college if I dont find a house before September. I also need money for deposit and stuff and I need a better job. But I think I can do the house hunting this coming week or in the beginning of July since is our summer holiday. YAAAAY!!!! :}
This is the reason why I have not made a new entry on my blog for this pass few weeks. Sorry. :/ Oh yea! I got a kitten called Cammie and she is black with darkish brown pattern around her stomach. She is so cute. I know there is no connect to it but I just want to mention it. :} I'm a retard so ignore my randomness, you'll get used to it like everyone else. Lol. :'>

Halloween, Dress Up Party? Oh Wait its Visual Kei

Shinya from Dir en grey

Visual Kei is a movement among Japanese musicians, characterized by the used of make up, elaborate hair style and flamboyant costumes, often, but not always, coupled with androgynous asthetics (For morons, lol, just kidding. :} Androgynous means refers to the mixing of masculine and feminine characteristics, as in fashion. Easy explaination for asthetic is the final outcome or look). But some sources state that visual kei refers to music genre or Japanese rock, with particular sound related to glam-rock, punk and metal.

These are what Visual Kei look like;

Alice Nine

Versailles

Believe it or not, all of them are guys even the one in the red dress? or whatever he is wearing. This style emergered in the late 1980s, pioneered by bands such as X Japan, D'enlanger, Buck-Tick and Color.

In my opinion, they all look like they are attending a dress party and a VERY, VERY posh one. :}

Finally!!!!!

Right, let's make one thing straight. This work was due on the 7 May 2010 but I handed my work in on the 10 May 2010, WITH the tutor's approval. Why? bacause in our group I was the only student that the tutor can not give a hand, so I made my patterns by myself. (>.<)

Back View

Front View

All of the pattern is inspired by a flower. On the bottom hem of the shirt is a petal that went through a lot of experimenting with repetition, linking and scale. The pattern on the collar and cuff are hand made crochet. YES!!! they are all hand made. Took me like months to finish them all and let me tell you my was KILLING me after I done one crochet. For the people who does not know what crochet is. It is a knitting method that only use one knitting needle that got a hook at the end. The threads that I used is a embroidery threads that cost me a bomb, :/ but I guess it's worth it. :) Oh, BTW, the shirt is from a store not a hand made one. :}

Edgar Mueller

Edgar Müller/Mueller was born in Mülheim/Ruhr, Germany on 10 July 1968. His fascination with painting began in his childhood, with paintings of rural scenes of Straelen. He went to the high school in the neighboring town of Geldern, where an international competition of street painters took place. Since 1998 Edgar Müller has held the title of 'maestro madonnari' (master street painter). The title is awarded at the world’s largest street painting festival, called The Grazie Festival, which is held in the small pilgrim town of Grazie in Italy. Around the age of 25, Müller decided to devote himself completely to street painting.

Amazing or What?

I was on facebook when I saw this photograph. No, the road does not look like that in reality. It actually do look like its real, like the floor did actually made that massive hole and a waterfall is actually under it. It would be actually epic if it is real. The image it self attract attention, I was attracted to the details and colours aswell as how he was able to blend the colours and made it look realistic. This is drawn using a chalk or soft pastel by Edgar Mueller, NO PHOTOSHOP!! I did not do more research about him YET! due to the fact that I was busy with college work but I will do a blog about him, hopefully soon. I'll edit this one when I finish researching about him.

Shoes!!!!!

I went to Roebuckfest today with my boyfriend and met up with the band that he is in. While we were waiting for them to come around I started looking around at what people is wearing. They were all wearing like normal clothes but I keep noticing the shoes that they're wearing. So when I came home I went and look at shoes and I found shoes that attract me the most.

According to the website the image above is a Prada shoes. The heels of this shoes is what attract me the most.

The image above reminds me of the floor of buildings. It also reminds me of the layering technique that i always use on my college work.
The image above is my favorite because of the details off the shoe. I am always attracted to things with a lot of details because I find them challenging and inspiring.

The First Study Book That I Like.

One of my hobbies is reading books that doesn't have anything to do with reality, why do I like books like this? Simple, this books activate all the creative ideas in my mind. They inspired me to create new things. But there is a kind of books that I would to anything just to avoid reading this kind of book. This books are school books or anything to do with studying, why? I found them boring and a waste of time because it's either be forgotten after a few days or week or you don't actually need that information. But in the first time in my life, I found a book that is connected with studying and I am now extremely obssess with.

I found an interesting book yesterday at the library. I was doing research for my current brief for college, I wanted to find different technique on fabric manipulation and embroidery when I found a book called Metal Thread Embroidery by Jane Lemon(embroiderer). This book just doesn't give information about embroidery it also explain the materials, tools and explain how to do the technique, but that's not all! The book also got a page on places you can visit to observe or do research about metal thread embroidery. It doesn't finish there, there is also a page on where you can purchase supplies of metal threads. I learn a lot about embroidery and different techniques, this is all thanks to this book.

A Creative Friend of Mine

Design Ideas

Design Ideas

Final Piece for Art

Metallica Tribal Tigers

Trivium

Dragon

Elizabeth Sadler is a friend of mine that currently in year 11 and taking GCSE art. She is really talented at art, the photos above is her drawings. She told me that she draw all that drawings when she get bored and feels like being creative. The Metallica Tribal Tigers was a request from a friend. She had to recreate the symbol in the middle and the tigers were inspired by a tribal tattoo. The other drawings were inspiration from images. When I saw her drawings I notice that there were many drawings of fantasy creatures. I am amaze and envy her to be able to draw like this.
The third photo above is her final piece for her GCSE art. The two photo above her final piece is her ideas. She told me she was inspired by tattoo book or magazines. She also told me that she took time on making this drawing because she needed to concentrate more to get all the details the same. We can see perfectly that all her effort is worth it. She got a creative mind, I wont be surprise if she become a fine art artist. If it was me doing all that drawing I will end up only half way through. I don't like concentrating due to the fact I found it boring and give me headache to focus like that but I learned from her that if I concentrate more I can get a better final piece that I will be able to be proud about.

Let's Begin

Hi my name is Venissa Elchico but my friends call me Vhee. This will be my first blog that I am setting up to record inspiration and progress on my fashion course. For my first entry I have loaded up a photo of a parrot. This is a photocopy which I have recreate by layering pencil sharpenings to represent the feathers and the bits of the broken pencil sprinkled on the head to give it texture. I really like the effect and may use this to inspire my final t-shirt design for the Boss Orange competition.
